Apple Cider Vinegar Soda Recipe: Club Soda vs Seltzer
One glass of apple cider vinegar soda built with club soda or seltzer, the sodium in each, and what the weight and blood sugar claims really rest on.

Total Time2 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) apple cider vinegar, 15 mL; our untested ratio, not a medical rule
- 8 fl oz (240 mL) cold club soda or seltzer, 240 mL; seltzer has no added sodium, club soda does
- as needed ice cubes, as many as fit your glass

Instructions
- Measure the vinegar. Pour 1 tbsp (15 mL) of apple cider vinegar into a low glass. Never drink it straight.
- Add ice. Fill the glass with ice cubes, then pour in 8 fl oz (240 mL) of cold club soda or seltzer. Pour slowly down the side to keep the bubbles.
- Stir once. Stir gently one time. Taste and add a little sweetener only if you want it; it isn't counted in the nutrition.
- Drink it now. Sip through a straw, then rinse your mouth with water. Build one glass at a time, because fizzy water goes flat.
Notes
Our ratio is an untested proposal: nothing here comes from tasting the drink or trying the recipe. It was inspired by Diabetes Strong, whose own card uses different amounts.
Nutrition is our calculation from USDA FoodData Central values for cider vinegar and from one club soda label. Club soda formulas vary, so check your can.
Metric amounts are rounded.
